Shine Cymru secures new Ystradgynlais centre with support from Peter Lynn and Partners
Peter Lynn and Partners Solicitors have advised Shine Cymru Life Skills Services on a new 10-year commercial lease for Unit 12 at Woodlands Business Park, Ystradgynlais, giving the organisation a long-term base from which to expand its work in the area.
Founded in 2017, Shine Cymru supports young adults with autism spectrum disorder and moderate to complex learning difficulties and disabilities.
Its person-centred programmes focus on practical life skills, independence, communication, literacy and numeracy, decision-making and employability, delivered through activities, education, community involvement and supported work placements.
Commercial Property Solicitor Ashley Leung of Peter Lynn and Partners advised Shine Cymru on the lease and associated rent deposit deed.
“This is a great example of commercial property work having a very tangible purpose behind it,” said Ashley. “Shine Cymru wanted a property that could support the next stage of its services, while also giving the organisation the security it needs to plan for the years ahead,” she continued.
“A 10-year commitment makes it particularly important to understand exactly what is being agreed at the outset, from rent reviews and repairing obligations to the condition in which the property will ultimately need to be returned,” she explained.
The move represents another step in the development of an organisation that has grown considerably since its launch. Shine Cymru describes its approach as creating a supportive, family-feel environment in which young adults can develop practical skills ranging from cooking, budgeting and personal safety to communication, technology and independent living.

With the lease secured, the future’s bright for the team at Shine Cymru, who aim to help people in the local area for the next decade and beyond.
