Jonathan is a Partner in the commercial litigation team and experienced in a broad range of commercial disputes, providing counsel to clients across various industries.

He specialises in handling a wide range of legal matters including sports law, intellectual property disputes, shareholder and director conflicts, and insolvency issues. He has a commitment to delivering exceptional results along with fostering strong client relationships and understands the wider implications disputes have with client’s and aims to mitigate these from the outset.

Jonathan has acted for clients ranging from multinational corporations to individual athletes, in high-stakes litigation matters, including an OPEC International Arbitration for an Oil and Gas corporation based in the middle east.

Commercial Litigation:
Advising clients on breach of contract, fraud, defamation. Jonathan has experience within the automotive industry acting for several claimants in matters against Europe’s largest vehicle manufacturers and the worlds largest Tier 1 electric car manufacturer.

Sports Law:
Advising athletes, sports clubs and organisations, and governing bodies, from Grass Roots to Elite level on contract negotiations, sponsorship agreements, disciplinary actions, and dispute resolution in compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards. Jonathan also acts as Basketball Wales’s Legal Director, advising on the Home Nations Unification and the partnerships with the British Basketball League. He also advised on the agreements with the NBA and Jr.NBA programme with the Home Nation.

Intellectual Property Matters:
Handling disputes related to trademarks, copyrights, patents, trade secrets with a comprehensive understanding of intellectual property laws and enforcement mechanisms. Jonathan has acted within proceedings to protect a client’s trademark against a large-scale counterfeit production of infringing goods, ultimately ceasing its operation and obtaining damages and associated costs order for the client.

Shareholder and Director Disputes:
Assisting clients in resolving conflicts arising from corporate governance issues, breach of fiduciary duties and disputes over control or ownership interests via shareholders.

Insolvency Work:
Representing creditors, debtors, trustees, and other stakeholders in bankruptcy proceedings, restructuring matters, liquidations, and debt recovery actions. Jonathan is often instructed to defend claims against HMRC brought by their enforcement team, successfully making applications to prevent advertising of petitions on behalf of clients.
